Dave and Sugar
An obscure country group who opened for Charlie Pride in 1975, Dave & Sugar is Dave Rowland, accompanied by an alto and soprano, who usually changed every other album or so. To listen to this music today is a chore for most as it is not only pure hillbilly lyrics, but filtered through the late seventies effects of synth strings and even some disco beats. My wife absolutely hates them. But you can not deny that the harmonies these three produce are so sweet you can pour them on your pancakes.
When I was a kid, I got to see them play live at a high school in southern Indiana with my whole extended family and we were in heaven. I got their autographs and everything! Today, they are still around doing what they do, and they are available for weddings, festivals, and other special occasions, no kidding. My 40th birthday will have them on one stage and Otis Day and the Knights on another, and you are all invited.
